Frequently Asked Questions

How can I contact you?
Use our contact form for help with your account or to answer any questions you might have. If you need to speak with a representative, dial (310) 997-0662 Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm PT. If a representative is not available, leave a message and we will get back to you.

How do I reactivate my old account?
Email reactivate@freecallplanet.com your account number, the plan you want, and when you want it activated. We will then email you once the account has been activated.

What should I do if my local access number is busy?
Try our high capacity access number at (310) 997-0662, and report to us which local access number you are having trouble with so that we can make an improvement.

How do I use your service?
1. Select a plan and sign-up, specifying what phone number you will make your calls from (it can be a home or mobile phone)

2. Dial one of our domestic access numbers listed on our Access Numbers page.

3. You will be connected with our International Gateway and will hear a message instructing you to dial your International destination.

4. Dial your destination phone number. International calls should begin with 011, and Canada and Caribbean calls with 1- area code.

5. Wait for your call to be connected - it may take a few moments.

Mobile Users: DO NOT HIT SEND AFTER DIALING YOUR INTERNATIONAL PHONE NUMBER. Hitting SEND may disconnect you from our gateway and your Mobile provider will place your call on their network, at their rates, instead.

What happens after I use all my free minutes?
You will be charged at a per minute rate, ranging from 2.5 to 14.9 cents. 2.5 cents applies to any countries falling in the International Zone; 7.9 cents applies to any country falling in the Frequently Called Zone; 14.9 cents applies to any country falling in the Global Zone; and 25 cents for all countries outside those plans.

If I'm not satisfied with your service can I disconnect it? Get a refund? What if I realize I've chosen the wrong plan - can I upgrade or downgrade?
Most of our plans require only a monthly commitment, so you can stop service after the end of the month and before the next month begins. We also have a 30 day money back guarantee for first time customers if you are dissatisfied with the service and have not exceeded 50 minutes of in-plan usage. This does not include refunds on per minute charges for successfully connected calls (per minute charges apply for calling countries outside your plan or apply to plans based on per minute charges). You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time by emailing us your request. To cancel, email cancel@freecallplanet.com with your account number and reason for your cancellation.

How do I upgrade/downgrade to a different account?
You may upgrade at any time, but downgrading will only take place at the beginning of your next month. To do either, please fill out our contact form. Give us your name and account number and the plan you want to change to.

If upgrading mid-month you will be charged the difference between your first charge for the original plan subtracted from the new monthly charge for the new plan. For every proceeding month you will be charged the full monthly rate for the new plan. If you are upgrading, and went over your current plan's minutes and have begun receiving per minute charges, we will charge your card for any outstanding balance in addition to your upgrade charge.

Can I recharge after I've used up my free minutes?
Our service is not a calling card which you can recharge, but instead provides access to our network for each month you stay signed up with us. We recommend upgrading to a higher minute plan if you use all of the free minutes in your plan consistently each month.

If you are looking for a service where you can recharge whenever you need, try our sister site at ApnaSuperCard.com, It offers the same great service as Free Call Planet, but works like a prepaid go calling card.

What is my credit limit and how does it work?
The credit limit is a cap on the amount of additional per minute charges that you can get in a month. These charges would occur if you made calls beyond your plan's monthly minutes or called destinations outside of your plan.

We have a credit limit so you can make these additional calls, but at the same time not run up a large bill without knowing it. The credit limit varies by plan, look at the table below to find out your credit limit.

Do my unused minutes rollover?
No; your free minutes must be used within each month. Your balance starts over at the beginning of each of your billing months.

Why was I charged again?
Free Call Planet services have a recurring monthly charge - which means we charge you every month for your monthly service fee for that upcoming month, and charge you for any additional billable calls you have made from the prior month. We will charge your credit card automatically.

It is also possible that you could incur multiple charges if you sign up for our service, then later purchase our service yet again - thereby inadvertently opening up two accounts. Sometimes people use all of their free minutes and attempt to "recharge" by purchasing the service again - because our service is not rechargeable this action just opens a 2nd account under their name, and they are billed twice each month - once for each account. If this occurs, or you want to upgrade to another plan, please contact us at service@freecallplanet.com.

Why don't I access your service through a toll free number?
In order to keep our plans at rock-bottom rates, we need to keep our costs low. Since most people can make free calls within the United States by using free mobile phone minutes, or using unlimited domestic calling plans from their home phone provider, our customers can call a regular domestic toll number to access our gateway for free and keep our expenses and our prices low!

Do you have an access number that is local to me?
Check out our list of access numbers to find one near you.

If you don't have an access number that is local to me, do I have to pay the toll charges?
Yes, you are responsible for any costs your phone provider charges you for dialing our access number. However, most people can make free calls within the United States by using free mobile phone minutes, or using unlimited domestic calling plans from their home phone provider.

So I can use my mobile phone?
Yes, you may sign up your home or your mobile phone. If we do not provide a number that is local to you, then you can use your free mobile minutes to make the toll call to our gateway free.  After calling our gateway you will be prompted to enter your international number, after entering it DO NOT HIT THE SEND or GREEN CALL BUTTON! Also do not pull your phone number from your phone's address book. These actions cause some mobile carriers to either disconnect your call, or place your call on our network on hold while your mobile carrier dials your call on their network. Your mobile carrier will then bill you at rates as high as $1.64 per minute. When you dial your international number wait briefly for your call to be connected, then your call will be free if you are using your free mobile minutes.

Do I need any special equipment, or do I need to call from my PC?
No special equipment is required. Simply call our gateway number from any telephone you use today, including cell phones. If you want to use your PC based service to call our access number, you are welcome to.

When I call your access number how does it know who I am if I don't enter a PIN?
We authenticate who you are and what plan you have based on the phone you call us from. The phone you should make all of our calls from is the one you sign up with when initially subscribing to our service. To authenticate your phone number, we need to be able to read your phone number through Caller ID. If you are calling from a phone number with blocked Caller ID, dial *82 then the Free Call Planet access number to unblock your caller id for this phone call only, so that we can validate that you have an account with us.

Example: Dial *82-1-area code-phone number of the Free Call Planet access gateway. If you call from a blocked Caller ID phone without dialing *82, our system will ask for your account number which you can enter in order to complete your call. Your account number is provided to you when you register for our services. Account Maintenance.

I called your access number and was asked to enter an account code - why?
We authenticate who you are and what plan you have based on the phone you call us from. If we ask for your account number it is either because your phone has Caller ID blocked, or you are not calling from the phone that you subscribed with. If you are calling from the phone you signed up with, to allow the Caller ID to be read for that one phone call only, dial *82 then the Free Call Planet access number, so that we can validate that you have an account with us.

Example: Dial *82-1-area code-phone number of the Free Call Planet access gateway. If you call from a blocked Caller ID phone without dialing *82, our system will ask for your account number which you can enter in order to complete your call. Your account number is provided to you when you register for our services.

How do I change my phone number that I can call from (your alias)?
You can now change the phone number on your account online! Click here to log in.

If I paid for one plan, why can I call countries on other plans?
Every Free Call Planet Plan allows you access to all of the other countries in our other plans.  If you call a country not included under the plan that you purchased, you will be charged a per minute rate between 2.5 and 14.9 cents depending on what calling zone the country is in. If you call a number in a country or on a mobile line not included in our plans, you will be charged $0.25 per minute.

How do I select a Plan - any tips?
All of our plans are listed side-by-side for comparison at:

http://www.freecallplanet.com/services.asp

You should select the plan that contains the countries you call most frequently. If there is a limited minute and an unlimited minute version of the plan, determine how frequently you call per month and then select which plan your number of minutes would fall into. If you choose a limited minute plan, you are still able to call after using up those minutes, but will be charged a per minute rate. Check the plan for what that per minute rate would be - it is usually cheaper than a calling card so it is still advantageous to call over your allotted minutes.

You can read more details about each individual plan by clicking on the title of the plan. Once you have selected a plan, click on SIGN UP NOW.

Can I use your service from outside the US?
You can sign up with our system to make calls to international countries, but you to access our service you must call one of our access numbers within the United States. Check with your phone provider to find out the rates for calling the US and then determine if this call along with our monthly fee is still cheaper than your international call normally is - in which case, using our service would still be beneficial. Here is a list of our access numbers:

http://www.freecallplanet.com/numbers.html

At this time, we do not accept credit cards with non-US billing addresses through our on-line purchasing system as fraud protection. If you are from Canada we may be able to take your order over the phone. Contact us at (310) 997-0662.
